Indo-Australia Workshop on "Biofilm Controlling Nanomaterials (BIOCON - 2020)" will provide a platform for interaction of undergraduate/postgraduate students, researchers with Indian and Australian experts in the field. The participants will get a thorough understanding of the biofouling problems in biofuel pipelines and a hands-on exposure of the latest biofouling controlling coating techniques

In fulfilment of the SPARC sponsored India-Australia collaborative project entitled "Development of Nanostructured Antifouling Coatings in Oil and Gas/Biofuel Pipelines" operated by Dr.Vinita Vishwakarma, Research Professor/Scientist-F, Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Dr.Dawn S S, Research Professor/Scientist-E, Centre for Waste Management in collaboration with Dr.Saravanamuthu Vigneshwaran , Distinguished Professor and Dr.Gayathri Danasamy, Vice-Chancellor's Post-Doctoral Fellow from University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, Two Days Workshop on Biofilm Controlling Nanomaterials (BIOCON-2020) is being conducted on 17th and 18th February 2020. Dr.T.Sasipraba Pro Vice-Chancellor, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai inaugurated the Workshop. Dr.Saravanamuthu Vigneshwaran from UTS highlighted on Biofouling and Biofilm Formation in Membranes , Dr. Karthick Thiyagarajan delivered a Skype Lecture from UTS elaborating on Sensors for smart microbial corrosion monitoring in sewers . Dr. Anusha Balasingh, Deanof Students and Associate Professor, Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai gave an insight on the Economic and ecological implication of biofouling with development in antifouling technologies. Research Personnel of the SPARC project Dr.Gobi Saravanan, Mr.Arun Govind M and research team of Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Centre for Waste Management Mr.Karthik Alagar, Ms.Ashwini,Ms.Nirmala and Mr.A.Santosh gave the Hands-on Training on Coating Techniques and Quantification of Biofouling and Biofuel Production, Biofuel Contamination and Corrosion Studies. Around 104 students, researchers, academicians and industry personnel from 23 institutions participated in the Workshop.
